From the best of enemies to the best of friends

Colter's best friend these days is a boy he once hated. When this boy first moved into our apartment complex, Colter immediately wanted him to move out, far away, to disappear. Why? Because of a girl.

The little girl Colter liked at the time took a sudden interest in this other boy, and Colter blamed the boy.

Months later, neither of the boys plays with the girl; instead, they play with each other. Every day they're outside playing ball or inside playing GameCube.

As a mom, is there a lesson in this I need to learn about male friendship?

All relationships are complicated. If you learned anything at all you are way ahead of the game!!

I guess Tony's not quite old enough for that yet. Thanks for the warning.

my daughters have both been on the short end of male friendships--when the boy was by himself he would be just nice -then his friends would show up and then there would be this transformation into a different creature--

I think the lesson of male friendship is that sure, all's fair in love and war, but at the end of the day, a dame's just a dame and it doesn't come between you and your pal.
