40 by 40, part 3

I can't even finish my list of 40 things to do before I turn 40, let alone accomplish any of them in the few months I have left. I only made it to number 20 on my list. I'm not sure whether I'm sublimely satisfied with life or completely unimaginative. Either way, help me out: What are some things a person should do before turning 40?

40 before 40, part two

Here are some more things I want to do before I turn 40:

11. See all the lighthouses on the East Coast.
12. See all the lighthouses on the West Coast.
13. See all the lighthouses in between.
14. Spend two weeks at the beach just reading and writing.
15. SURVIVE HURRICANE SEASON!
16. Beat my 8-year-old son at ... anything.
17. Cook a dinner for my husband so good that he says, "That was the best meal I've ever had."
18. Make smoothies with bananas that grew on the tree in our soon-to-be backyard.
19. Plant a garden.
20. Spend the afternoon napping in a hammock.

What do you want to do?

40 before 40

Just after my 39th birthday, I decided to make a list of 40 things I want to do before I turn 40. I suggested Gary make a list of 50 things he wants to do before he turns 50. He's way ahead of me.

Here's the beginning of my list, in no particular order:

  1. Create a last will and testament.

  2. Wear a piece of really expensive jewelry.

  3. Have my first mammogram.

  4. See the place Colter's namesake discovered.

  5. Start playing guitar and piano again.

  6. Buy a house!

  7. Take Colter to Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

  8. Thank my family for their love and support through the years.

  9. Hold my dad's hand one more time.

  10. Meet someone famous I admire James Taylor.

What do you want to do before your next birthday?
