Free Press or Free-for-all?
I just got a comment (from Rob) that made me wonder, how much "Free Press" do I want on my site anyway? The thing that got to me about this comment, was that it started out as a reasonable argument against indiscriminately tipping a waitperson.
Then it was as if a switch was flipped, or his med's wore off. He starts to rant. OK, ranting is cool. Then, I think the liquor kicks in, and he starts cussing, then attacking other commentors, not just attacking the comments, but the intelligence of the people who left them. By the end he's just rude.
Now I won't stoop to the level of attacking this commentor on a personal level, I'll just let his alleged writing speak for itself. I'll add this, though,
I doubt that he makes a six figure income as he claims, and he wasn't even man enough to leave a real e-mail address. My guess is that a waitress just broke up with him and he's hitting the bottle at 2:53 Pacific Daylight Time. I wonder if it would cross his alleged mind that he's completely traceable?
Anyway, like I said before, I won't attack him and say something like:
"he's a lying sack of emasculated self aggrandizing ego, who's 16 year old, high school drop-out waitress in a sleazy spoon diner of a girlfriend just left him for his best friend and he has nothing better to do than to jerk off at the idea of telling off one of my readers who could buy him and ship him off to India to spend the rest of his miserable years cleaning up rat dung in a temple." No, I wouldn't do that, I'm sure his life must be pretty much miserable enough without me adding that kind of tripe to it.
Hahaha!
First of all, I just came across your site, and this is the first post of yours that I have read, but I must say, I like you already.
Second of all, I went back and ready "Rob's" comment. There are so many things I could say. First of all, if it is that important to you, Rob, why not be a man, stand up for what you believe in, and use a real email address? Are you too afraid, Rob?
Rob, this is coming from someone that has waitressed on and off for the past ten years. I agree wait staff work for their tips. But, they also only make under $3.00 an hour, because of it. So, people like you who pick apart every.tiny.thing can have an excuse to NOT tip.
Just a heads up, Rob. If your food isn't cooked to perfection, if your dishes are not to the point that you can see your face in them, if you find a hair in your food, or notice something that, in your opinion, just royally pisses you off, speak up! Say something to the manager. But, remember, that should not have anything to do with the amount you leave the person that waited on you hand and foot. We don't cook your food, wash your dishes, or examine said food on said dishes with a microscope before serving it to you.
Most waitresses/waiters bust their ass to give excellent service. Some aren't cut out for the job, some are new, some have probably had to deal with arrogant people like you WAY to many times. Everyone has bad days.
If nothing is good enough for you, and I am sure it isn't, STAY HOME! We will gladly give excellent service to people that know it when they see it. And appreciate it.

I personally think Rob was a little too rude in his comment. Your post certainly didn't give reason for him to answer as he did. Plus, if he was earning a 6 figure amount i would expect less arrogance and a bit better grammar.

I've decided to refrain from remarks about this, because I'm a gentleman.
