We decided against going to church the other day after the baby had a fussy night. Then Mallory came to the side of the bed dressed in her white tights, dress and maryjane's ready to go. Albeit the dress (size 4) was a little short, but I was proud of her for dressing herself. The guilt set in, and so I decided to take her. After church we went to Kohl's to do a little Christmas shopping.
So when we finally got home I told her to take off her tights and throw them away because they had a hole in them. Then I realized she didn't have underwear on. I said: "Why aren't you wearing underwear?" She said: "I didn't think I needed it Mommy!" Then I realized why the Sunday school teacher was so aloof and brusk when I picked her up.
The moral of the story: the things you don't think you have to tell 3 1/2 year olds, things like underwear is mandatory, are precisely the things you have to tell them!
Cute story - But it could of been worse... she could of choosen to wear socks to church :)
