That's so wonderful. So many kids today focus in on a Gameboy or some such other device as soon as they get in the car. It's great to have that uninterrupted time to talk.

We use the car to talk as well.Great post.

Probably in the living room on the couch. We cuddle up together and talk about what we have done that day. I do have lots of interesting talks with the hubbie in the car.....as that is the only place I can get him to pay attention! Ha!

Tony and I have special talks when we have our "'gether time" curled up in my bed after Angelo is gone, or while Angelo is in the shower. But that's not the only time we talk. Since I'm a SAHM, we talk all day, but our focused talking is at special together times.

During the summer, I would take one child at a time to the grocery store. They knew it was talk time then. During the school year, I'll pop into their rooms when they're alone. For my second son, the best time to get him to talk is when he feels you aren't paying 100% attention. He is somewhat uncomfortable with someone looking into his eyes as he talks. Once he gets going, though, I can give him eye contact and he won't squirm too much ;)

that is wonderful! my daughter, hannah, and I always talk to each other in the car too! But, more importantly is that we actually sit and have conversations. I was told by a friend of mine that she thought i was crazy for actually wanting to be a stay-at-home mom and that she couldnt stand staying home with her daughter, but she had too because of her maturnity leave! I didn't say anything but thought to myself, if she didn't want to stay home with her kid why was she having another one?
I, however, LOVE being a stay-at-home mommy and go to bed each night looking forward to the next day!
I read your blog and would be honored if you would read mine as well!

With two 30 minutes commutes to school/work each day, we also welcome "car time". Great post!
