Ben did have a girl playmate when he was a baby/toddler. It went fine until they hit about 3 1/2 to 4, then suddenly they weren't a good match anymore. It depends on the kids, obviously. But it's not a bad idea to nurture some female friends as well. Of course she'll meet a bunch in preschool too!


The gender thing may be geographic, and maybe linked to climate (just a theory I'm working on). Our playgroups in NYC were mainly toddler girls.

Wow, we went through the same gender/demographic thing. In both my boys' classes (they're now 14 and 16), there were so many more boys than girls. I remember one junior high math class that had, like, 4 girls and 22 boys in it. Wonder what this means to future generations?
