For seven years, I worked at a TV station, and during that time I read the newspaper almost every day. I now work at a journalism school that owns a newspaper and read it only sporadically. The irony did not escape my boss, who encouraged me to subscribe. I caved, and I'm so glad I did. How else could I read my son the comics and discover stories with headlines like "Teachers losing their Apples" (about the Mac-PC rivalry in local schools)? I knew it had truly become a family paper when my husband took the front page into the bathroom with him this morning.
