I got a haircut today. It looks OK, but I'd rather it was shorter. I'm growing it long because Gary prefers it that way (it was down my back when we got married and stayed that way until our son started pulling on it as a newborn). But I really don't get why men like long hair better. I talked with the woman at the salon and came to the conclusion that it's all because of their mothers. Many TV moms have short hair. My husband's mother has short hair, too, and always has. I think men don't want to be married to women who look like their mothers. They want the object of their desire to be the anti-mom, until we bear their children and then they only want us to be the anti-mom after the kid's in bed. I guess moms aren't very sexy to men (or at least their moms weren't, which is as it should be). And yet for awhile I wanted Gary to grow a beard and mustache, and people told me it was because my father had facial hair when I was young. So, he doesn't want me to look like his mother but I want him to look like my father? There must be a word for that. I know: twisted.
Love your site. New to motherhood and to blogging. Son is 6 months old, blog is a couple weeks old. Same situation. Husband prefers long hair, son pulls hair, I want shorter hair. What to do? Nothing. Presently - and for who knows how long - nature has taken over. I am now losing my hair.

I can so totally relate to all that you said. HEH!! I am pushing 40 and my hair is almost down to my waist line. Hubby doesn't want me to get it cut but I think it's time that I did. Plus, it feels like I have shag carpet on my back in the summer. ARG!
