I received an e-mail today from someone I know asking me if my work was on exhibit in his current hometown of Charlotte. I received a clipping last week from a friend who asked the same. A couple of times a year, a friend, co-worker, someone from synagogue, even relatives inquire politely, trying to determine whether I have a secret identity as an award-winning photographer. No. I'm the other Julie Moos.
Usually, I'm OK with that. So once, when I received some really nice fan mail for her, I decided I wanted to pass it along. I Googled her/our name, tracked her down, and forwarded it. She was very kind, asked what I did, and generally showed an interest in my life (turns out we're the same age). But in the end, any potential feelings of sisterhood were spoiled by this sad fact: no one ever asks her if she's me.
Well, that figures. Clever piece, Julie. Noone would dream that she'd be you because you're so unique and talented and unforgettable.
