I get so excited when e-mail arrives telling me there's been a new comment posted to this blog. I can't wait to see what you have to say. And then, the bad news: it isn't you at all. It's [email protected], who says, "This a great site - thanks. I like to blog too ;-)"
No, you don't! First of all, you aren't a real person. Secondly, what could you possibly gain by posting these faux comments to weblogs? Do you think people are going to click on your name and start buying drugs from you? And you're not the only one. I've blocked several spammers from commenting. What a big bad blogging universe blunder.
Comments - phew!
I've had Xmas gift shop adverts and porn sites commenting recently. They don't even bother with "Great site etc".
But real people are about 98% good news in my experience.

What these "people" gain is a better chance of being Googled--I believe that your ranking in a Google search result has something to do with how many web pages link to you. Bad blogging universe blunder is right! The good thing is that your post has reminded me that I should be better about leaving comments on other people's blogs. I get excited when email arrives too. :-)
