Continuing the car theme, I noticed a personalized license plate on my way home tonight that struck me as especially funny. It said, "HeyGod." As if God is in the next car looking for a sign.
I really enjoy personalized plates. My dad was the first person I knew who ordered one, and he had the same message for years on his license plate: Sam Sez. (My dad's name was Sam.)
I had one in North Carolina that said, "NOXTOHATE." It really stumped people I didn't know well, who would sometimes ask me if I was divorced, but friendly with my "ex." I explained to them that it meant, "No time to hate," a line from a Grateful Dead song.
Gary had a personalized license plate that said "TALETELR."
Here's a collection of some clever ones.
I've had several vanity plates ...
GR8FUL-D, THELEVEN both relating to the grateful dead. My wife's 10AC-JED is another reference to the dead. Now that I'm hopelessly addicted to blowing glass I'm considering a change - to GAFFER - the actual person in charge of a given glass work...My wife says I must be moving on.
hmmm

I have personalized plates that are my amateur radio call sign. I am not currently using them, but they were sure helpful following an accident we had. A co-worker recognized the plates (while we were still sitting in the ditch after getting hit head on) and stopped to help.

Hey Julie, it was nice of Gary to put your link in his recent rambling. Anyway, still the best personalized plate was one that was on a Rolls Royce here in Durham. It said
" NO POUPON "

During the bitterest portion of my divorce I vowed to get "3ATLAST" at my next renewal, but I didn't go through with it. I was a little afraid my ex would flip. Oh well.

I knew a guy named "Bob Bois" and everyone used to pronounce his last name wrong (BO-IZ instead of BW-AH). So he got a license plate that said "BobBwa" to set the record straight.
Instead, everyone used to say "Your wife's name is Barbra?"
Heh

We have personalized plates on three of our vehicles. My '73 Comet has 'KRISTYK' (my online id), my husband's work truck reads 'PAINTER', and our passenger van says '4XX 4XY' for our four girls and four boys!

My favorite wasn't actually a vanity plate. My brother and his wife had a string of bad luck. Then they got their new plate: 123YME
