By the time I started reading The Julie/Julia Project ("Nobody here but us servantless American cooks..."), Julie Powell was almost finished working her way through all the recipes in Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." I loved her style then, and now, her book is out. Called "Julie & Julia," it is a great look behind the blog and beyond the kitchen. I recommend this book; it is the highest form of nourishing writing, about food, life and everything. Bon appetit!
I read a blurb in Reader's Digest about this. It was hysterical about cooking the lobster.
I will have to get the book.

Julie/Julia was the first blog I ever read. I never imagined at the time that I'd start my own blog...

thanks for the tip, i will look into it. for other great french cooking that even i can make, and i am no cook, check out the Barefoot Contessa, Barefoot in Paris. it doesn't have that many recipes but they are all yummy french basics that you might crave once you've had them, with good instructions and good substitutes for ingredients only found on french soil. bon apetit :).
