Cody finished mopping the locker room floor, and rushed downstairs to sweep. He couldn't stand the idea that he'd miss the action when Fargut scared the new kid. He had been the new kid a few years ago and he never forgot the fright ol' Fargut gave him. Cody figured it a right of passage in Ryton, and he didn't want to deprive anyone of that honor. He hastily swept the floor, and got out of the gym before Coach Hardat could criticize his work.
Just beyond the marina Cody walked into the waist high grass of the marsh. It was the perfect place for a Canadian Goose to hide her young, or for a young man to hide a boat. It wasn't much of a boat, in fact it wasn't a boat at all. It was a large rusting tub like the top of an oversized wheel barrel. It sat low in the water, and small waves lapped over the shallow sides as Cody made his way across the cove to Fargut's Rock.
