I started DotMoms in 2003 to help mothers connect with each other virtually. Since then, moms have created their own digital spaces and changed how the Internet is used for families. Now, there's a new need: with all the information flowing through Twitter, Facebook, blogs, on TV, in newspapers and online, it's hard to keep up with the news women want. In the summer of 2010, I created a prototype for a new website that highlights what matters to us most. Womanist digests the news women want, with the information you need in a voice you recognize.
Since then, I've been focusing on a small part of that project -- women and politics. I write about both on a Tumblr I created called Eleanor (can you guess who it's named after?), and for a few months I contributed to Politics Daily.
